
Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today approved with 55 votes for the Government Decision on the declaring of emergency state for 30 days.
The demand to establish the emergency state was presented in the session hall by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and was criticized by the parliamentary opposition. ‘’The establishment of the emergency state is a technical solution, which will allow buying the needed volume of natural gas from alternative sources urgently,’’ the PM said.
Under the document, on the period of the emergency state, the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) of Moldova will issue instructions, in order to enforce the following measures: establishing of a special regime of buying natural gas in quick regime; allocation of financial means for ensuring the purchasing of the necessary volumes of natural gas; adoption of decisions needed to ensure quick actions of supply with natural gas, including by derogation from the normative provisions; instructing, if needed, the rationalization of the consumption of natural gas also from other energy resources; adoption of decisions on empowering the providers and distributors to act, in order to buy, carry and distribute natural gas all over the country; coordination of activities of the mass media entities as to: informing the residents about the reasons and scope of the emergency situation, about the measures undertaken to prevent the danger, liquidate the consequences of this situation and protect the population; familiarizing the residents with the rules of behavior during the emergency situation; introducing special rules of use of the telecommunication means; establishment of quick instruments of collecting payments from consumers for the natural gas used; carrying out necessary actions, in order to prevent, diminish and liquidate the consequences of the insufficiency of natural gas, which triggered the emergency state.
Also today, the MPs adopted an amendment reading that the emergency state will not hit the holding of the new local elections due on 21 November 2021.
On 21 October, the new local polls will take place in 15 settlements of Moldova, including the Balti city.
