Moldova condemned repeated violations of airspace to OSCE

The Republic of Moldova has reported to the OSCE repeated violations of airspace by drones, amid Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine. The issue was raised by Moldova's Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Ambassador Victoria Roșa during the 1,145th meeting of the Forum for Security Cooperation.

Victoria Roșa drew attention to the incidents recorded on September 8, 12, and 14, as well as the risks they pose to the population and civil aviation. According to the ambassador, the concerning nature of the situation is determined, among other factors, by the frequency of the incidents and the cross-border trajectories of the drones.

The meeting addressed the incident of September 8, when the same drone successively crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The Moldovan delegation described the case as evidence of the cross-border nature of the threats.

The representative of the Republic of Moldova reiterated that the sovereignty and airspace of states must be respected and that the civilian population must be protected.

At the same time, the Moldovan delegation reiterated its call for an end to Russia's war against Ukraine and to actions that according to Chișinău, undermine regional and European security.
