
Moldova hands over second part of questionnaire on accession to European Union
Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today handed over the second part of the questionnaire on accession to the European Union. Those seven volumes filled in were handed at a ceremony on the inauguration of the new headquarters of the EU Delegation in Moldova.
“I congratulate all employees of the EU Delegation on the opening of this new headquarters. We hope that this change is auspicious and the new building should be able accommodate a larger mission. EU has always represented for Moldovans an aspiration; EU is associated with freedom, democracy and well-being. EU means also a devoted friend, which has been with us in difficult moments. In March, Moldova submitted the application on accession to EU and the first part of the questionnaire was handed over on 22 April. Today, we come up with those seven volumes filled in of the second part of the questionnaire. I thank the employees who have worked to fill in the documents,’’ Gavrilita said.
Ambassador of the European Union to Moldova Janis Mazeiks noted that the volumes represented the best present of new home and he was impressed by the authorities’ determination in the process of accession to EU. ‘’We work hard to get Moldova closer to EU. I was impressed by the Moldovans’ determination to advance in the relation with EU,’’ Mazeiks said.
Attending the inauguration ceremony, European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson welcomed the way the authorities coped with the situation emerged in the region and reiterated that Moldova deserved to be an EU member.
