Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry responds to Russian counterpart: Moldova safe country for visitors, there are no security risks that would justify travel alerts”
Moldova is a safe country for visitors and there are no security risks that would justify travel alerts of the kind issued by the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry. Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) today made statements to this effect.
The MAE rejected “attempts to misrepresent the realities in Moldova and urged a correct and responsible informing of the public.”
“The authorities of Moldova apply the national legislation in a non-discriminatory manner to all foreign citizens, including citizens of the Russian Federation, in accordance with international standards and with respect for fundamental human rights,” the MFA specified.
The Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry today urged citizens of the Russian Federation “to refrain from traveling to Moldova.” According to the diplomacy in Moscow, at the entry to and exit from our country through the Airport border checkpoint, there have allegedly been cases of “discrimination, unjustified harassment and improper treatment” during passengers’ screening procedures.
