Moldovan PM in office announces resignation of government
Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister in office, Pavel Filip, has announced on Friday, 14 June, resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Pavel Filip has been accompanied by all Ministers. The decision has been made public after the Democrats' party (PDM) announced today that it had decided to withdraw from governance.
"We have decided to present our resignation from the positions we are still exercising under the law. We made this decision first because it is being put an enormous pressure on civil servants, teachers, police, doctors, and military in recent days. There are people who do their job and obey the country and the law, not politicians. We shall not be the reason why these people are in the horrible situation of choosing a camp or another," said Pavel Filip.
"We came to governance not at an easy time, with a huge budget hole, there were crisis situations, we worked to stabilise the banking system and ensured economic growth. We have managed to promote important and complicated reforms. We leave behind programmes that we are proud of, and I hope the next Government will continue them. I believe and hope that we shall arrive on the day that this country and its people will decide their own fate, but not someone else outside the country. My goal was to make the European path irreversible," specified Filip.
"Our leaving will not solve the current legal blockage, nor invalidate the decisions of the Constitutional Court (CC). The constitutional crisis remains without solutions", remarked Pavel Filip.
The CC exposed on 08 June on term of office of the Parliament of the 10th legislature and decided that MPs in this legislature would form a Government by 07 June. Subsequently, the judges of CC declared unconstitutional all decisions adopted by the elected MPs on 24 February, including the decrees for appointment of a Prime Minister (PM) and a Cabinet of Ministers issued by the head of state.
