Moldovan president condemns Russia’s attacks on Ukraine

President Maia Sandu has condemned Russia’s massive attacks more regions of Ukraine. In the context, the official stressed that “strengthening Ukraine’s air defense is the way for Europe to remain safe and for peace to become possible.”

According to the head of state, Russia is responding to peace talks with missiles launched at cities where people are sleeping.

“In the course of this night, Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Lviv were attacked. Moldova stands with Ukraine. Strengthening Ukraine’s air defense is the way for Europe to remain safe and for peace to become possible,” Maia Sandu said.

The president also condemned the violation of Poland’s airspace by a Russian missile and emphasized that “Europe must respond with unity and determination.”

“The war waged by Russia knows no borders. The violation of Poland’s airspace by a Russian missile shows that, as long as Moscow’s aggression continues, no one in Europe is truly safe. We express our full solidarity with Poland. Europe must respond with unity and determination,” Maia Sandu underlined.

During the night, Russia launched a large-scale air attack on more regions of Ukraine, using missiles and drones. As a result, at least eight people were killed and over 30 were wounded in the bombardments targeting Kyiv, the Dnipropetrovsk region, Poltava and Lviv.

Russian attacks on Ukraine have repeatedly prompted NATO member states’ fighter jets stationed near Ukrainian airspace to take off as a precautionary measure.
