Moldovan president meets mayors from Hancesti district
Chisinau, 6 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met mayors of settlements from the central Hancesti district. The head of state urged the local authorities to join their efforts, to use all opportunities of financing projects and contribute to the country’s modernization.
„The elections are over; now, it is necessary that we join efforts and edify a strong and developed Moldova. In order to continue the transformation of settlements, use all opportunities of financing projects and speed up the country’s modernization, we will further cooperate with the mayors – leaders of their communities, no matter the political affiliation. The problems are solved together, in the service of all citizens,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The Moldovan president noted that the citizens from Hancesti had given a firm vote for the European integration and spoke to the local authorities about the projects which are to be implemented in the district with the state’s financial support. ‘’Today, I discussed with the mayors from the Hancesti district, who told me that the people appreciate the investments from the last years, carried out, to a great extent, with the support of the European Union and the development partners. We know how important are especially the roads Hancesti-Lapusna and Hancesti-Leova-Cahul, the repair of which has already started with money from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) – 56 million euros. The cleaning of the bed of the river Lapusna from the Mingir lake to the Prut river is also underway, due to a financing of 18 million lei from the National Environment Fund,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The Moldovan president said that, due to the European Village Programme, 213 million lei had been invested in infrastructure projects and improvement of the living standards.
