
Newly elected Moldovan MPs convene at parliament's foundation meeting
Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The lawmakers elected at the 11 July ballot convene at the foundation meeting of the parliament of the 11th legislative period. The meeting starts at 10:00 and will be presided over by the eldest MP, member of the Party of Socialists Eduard Smirnov, who will turn 82 in 2021.
At the first meeting, President of the Constitutional Court Domnica Manole is to unveil the report on the results of the elections to parliament and validation of the elected lawmakers’ mandates. At the same time, President Maia Sandu will convey a message to the newly elected MPs.
After the legal foundation of the legislative body, the parliament speaker, deputy parliament speakers will be elected and the parliament’s standing bureau will be set up. On a period of ten days after the first meeting, the parliamentary factions will be created, which work based on their own regulation.
The parliament is regarded as legally founded starting the date of the first meeting of the concerned legislative period.
