Regional situation and support for Ukraine discussed in Washington

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi met in Washington with Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg. The discussions focused on the current challenges of the Republic of Moldova, the war in Ukraine, regional security developments, and how we can strengthen cooperation between our country and the USA.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chisinau official reiterated that the Republic of Moldova remains firmly alongside Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

“It is essential for the war to end as soon as possible and for a lasting peace, based on respecting the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, to be established,” he declared.

In this context, Mihai Popșoi presented the efforts of the authorities to strengthen the resilience of the Republic of Moldova and fortify state institutions with the support of strategic partners.

During the visit to Washington, Popșoi also met with  Deputy Assistant Secretary for Eastern Europe and Policy and Regional Affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Christopher W. Smith. During the discussions, current topics on the bilateral cooperation agenda were addressed.
