Moldovan speaker: All those involved in corruption schemes must go to court

"One thing must be clear for our justice system: all those involved in corruption schemes must face justice." Speaker Igor Grosu made the statement when asked about the case of governor of Gagauzia Evghenia Gutul.

Grosu said that reforms must continue, including those in the judiciary.

Evghenia Gutul was detained at the end of last month at Chisinau International Airport, from where she intended to fly to Istanbul. A criminal case was opened against her for violating the management of financial resources from electoral funds, illegal financing of candidates, document forgery, and false statements, in the context of the 2023 elections.

On April 9, Gutul was released from prison and placed under house arrest.
