VIDEO // Moldovan president urges citizens to prove they are stronger than dirty money of Ilan Shor's crime ring

Moldova is our country, not of Shor's crime ring. Let's prove that we are stronger than their dirty money. President Maia Sandu has conveyed a message to this effect in a video address to the citizens.

According to the head of state, authorities have been notified about more cases of illegal transportation of voters to polling stations abroad in exchange for sums of money.

"We have situations of false bomb alerts in more countries, and I thank the people who patiently wait while the police check the premises. We have recorded cases of the so-called carousel, where attempts are made to remove a clean ballot from the polling station for it to be later inserted already stamped. At the same time, more cases have been recorded where people from the Shor network try to hinder the voting process, especially in stations with high turnout," said Maia Sandu.

The official emphasized that, under these difficult conditions, the honest votes of citizens can save Moldova.

"Go to vote in France, in Spain, in Ireland, in Romania, in every country where you are today. At home and abroad, go to vote now, so you can cast your vote before the polling stations close at 21:00. Moldova is our country, not of Shor’s criminal group. Let's prove that we are stronger than their dirty money," Maia Sandu also said.

The General Police Inspectorate and the Central Electoral Commission today reported cases of organized transportation of voters to polling stations abroad. Also, the Foreign Affairs Ministry announced the registration of bomb alerts at polling stations in Brussels (Belgium), Rome, Genoa (Italy), Bucharest (Romania), Asheville (USA) and Alicante (Spain).
