"In the context of the distorted information in the public space on the allocation of financial sources for 2021, in order to purchase the vaccine against COVID-19, MSMPS informs that the government approved on 30 November 2020 the draft Law on Compulsory Health Insurance Funds (FAOAM) for 2021, which provides for the sub-program National and special programs in health care the amount of 45.0 million lei to cover expenses related to the purchase of the vaccine against COVID-19.
Following the approval of the FAOAM Law, the coordinating council for setting priorities for use of financial means from the prophylaxis measures on 29 December 2020 decided to earmark 5.0 million lei for the purchase of the vaccine against COVID-19, out of 45.0 mln approved. At the same time, the CNAM reserve fund approved 10.0 million lei for this year, which can also be used to cover additional expenses related to diseases and urgent illnesses, including the purchase of the vaccine against COVID- 19 ”, the communiqué issued by MSMPS reads.
The authorities note that last year, 212 million lei were negotiated and approved for the purchase of the vaccine against COVID-19 within the project of the Development Bank of the Council of Europe, including 30 million dollars for the purchase of vaccines in the World Bank project. In addition, if necessary, financial resources can be allocated from the intervention fund (116321.3 thousand lei), as well as from the government reserve fund (161500.0 thousand lei).
