Another 20 ventilators distributed to hospitals from Moldova
Chisinau, 12 December /MOLDPRES/ - Twenty ventilators purchased within the World Bank’s project, Emergency Response to COVID-19 in Moldova, have been distributed to medical institutions, in order to cope with the number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in serious condition and who need assisted breathing.
According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), the medical devices were distributed to the Emergency Medicine Institute, Balti-based Clinical Hospital, St. Archangel Michael Municipal Clinical Hospital, Municipal Clinical Hospital No 1, Holy Trinity Municipal Clinical Hospital, COVID-19 Centre and Cahul District Hospital – institutions which have intensive therapy sections.
A number of 250 ventilators, bought within the same project for strengthening the intensive therapy sections from all over Moldova, will be delivered on the next period.
At present, 289 patients are in serious condition in hospitals and 61 are subjected to mechanical ventilation.
As many as124, 264 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Moldova so far and 2,521 people have died because of complications triggered by the new-type coronavirus.
