Chisinau, May 11 /MOLDPRES/- The agreements on activity of Teleradio Company MIR have been denounced. A draft law on the matter was adopted today in the second reading with the vote of 56 deputies.
Under the document, the goal is to protect the national audiovisual space and ensure information security, taking into account the current regional situation and the danger to national security caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
In 2000-2022, financial means of 40.3 million lei (2 million euros) were paid from the state budget to the Moldovan representative of the MIR company.
"MIR" is a media structure of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the founder of the television stations "Mir TV" and "Mir 24", which does not hold a broadcast license issued by the Audiovisual Council and, respectively, is not a media service provider under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Moldova. Currently, the retransmission of these TV channels is suspended during the state of emergency.
