Moldova's national legislation on assessment of impact on environment adjusted to EU's provisions
Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - The national legislation on the assessment of the impact on the environment has been adjusted to the European Union’s provisions. The parliament today amended the law on the assessment of the impact on the environment, the law on strategic environment evaluation and law on ecological expertise.
According to the documents, the updated norms provide for the shortening of the term for carrying out the procedure of assessment of the impact on the environment to 30 working days, revision of the list of activities planned, for which it is necessary to carry out the evaluation of the impact on the environment, as well as the introduction of the payment for the issuance of the agreement on environment.
The Environment Agency will be in charge of the working out of the programme on the carrying out of the assessment of the impact on the environment. At the same time, a commission of experts will be set up for analyzing the report on the strategic environment evaluation.
The documents were adopted in the second reading and will enter into force upon the expiration of six months after the date of publication in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial). Once the new provisions enter into force, the law on ecological expertise will be abrogated.
