Moldovan President gives green light to Center for Strategic Communication and Counteracting Disinformation
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu signed a decree on 16 September approving the structure and staffing limit of the Center for Strategic Communication and Counteracting Disinformation (STRATCOM).
According to the document, the new institution will have up to 29 employees and will be organized into two main directions, an administrative section, a financial service, and a legal service. The STRATCOM director has a month to finalize the full staff list.
The center's responsibilities include monitoring inauthentic behavior in the informational space through a specialized section within the situational awareness and forecasting directorate, alongside a section dedicated to analysis of the informational space.
The second direction, Resilience Building will include sections focused on interinstitutional empowerment, strategic orientation and society awareness.
STRATCOM project was initiated in 2023. The new center will report directly to the Supreme Security Council but remains obligated to present reports to both the Parliament and the Presidency.
