RESTART reform // MMPS launched national network of specialists in protection and rehabilitation of victims of violence
Chisinau, July 15 /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MMPS) launched today the national network of specialists in protecting victims of violence and rehabilitation of victims of crime. During the event, the specialists received a set of IT equipment provided by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the financial support of the European Union.
The event was attended by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu and 51 specialists from all 10 Territorial Social Assistance Agencies from Chisinau and Gagauzia.
Opening the event, Buzu emphasized that the measure is part of the Restart reform.
IOM Moldova head of programs Damien Fresnel reaffirmed the government's support in the fight against trafficking in human beings."Our long-standing partnership has led to the strengthening of the social system. The state has a duty to prevent these phenomena, support the rehabilitation of victims and promote their rights. We are supporting the development and strengthening the knowledge of specialists to help victims. In recent months, together we have managed to organize courses for 400 employees. At the same time, the equipment provided today will significantly contribute to the quality of their work", noted Fresnel.
Viorica Țâmbalari, director of the National Agency for Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, said she was counting on the support of specialists in the field to respond quickly to the needs of victims. The position of specialist in preventing and combating domestic violence and rehabilitating victims of crime was established this year, following the launch of Restart reform, in order to implement policies in preventing and combating domestic violence and rehabilitating victims of crime at local level. Previously this function did not exist and there was lack of clarity in interventions on cases of domestic violence.
