Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ - The World Blood Donor Day is marked in Moldova. In this context, an event dedicated to donors was held at the Palace of the Republic. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu was among the donors as well.
The parliament speaker published more photos from the event and a message on his official page. ‘’I today donated blood through a gesture of solidarity with the people who suffer from certain diseases or who were hit by accidents and urgently need transfusion of blood. The voluntary donation of blood during the entire year is extremely important, as in this way, the health system can maintain sufficient stocks of blood and can use them quickly in need. I urge all people who can donate blood to do this. This simple gesture can save lives in the direct sense,’’ Grosu wrote.
Dozens of people today came to the Palace of the Republic, in order to donate blood and contribute to the saving of lives. A concert was organized and diplomas were awarded at the event.
The World Blood Donor Day favours the enhancement of the degree of awareness of the need of blood and safe sanguine products and is also an occasion to thank the voluntary unpaid blood donors for their gesture of life saver. The decision to mark the World Blood Donor Day was taken at the 58th meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO), during which the member states unanimously declared their commitment and support for the voluntary donation of blood.
