Bilateral, transit transport between Moldova and Armenia liberalised

14:42 | 14.05.2015 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/- The bilateral and transit authorisations for goods transport between Moldova and Armenia have been removed. A protocol to this effect was signed by the transport ministers of the two states, Vasile Botnari and Gaghik Beglaryan, respectively, in Chisinau at a today's meeting of transport ministers from the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) countries.

After a meeting with the Armenian transport minister, Botnari noted that liberalisation of road transports was the goal promoted by Moldova in relations with the Black Sea basin countries.

"The present system of fixed quotas for permits of international road transport of goods does not meet the needs of transporters. Removing this barrier through liberalising the transports with an as larger as possible number of states is highly expected by transporters and will be a significant impetus to increasing the trade exchanges", he said.

Gaghik Beglaryan opted for bolstering the bilateral transports between Armenia and Moldova. He said that "the steps already taken by the sides will represent an important incentive to this end."

A meeting of BSEC transport ministers took place in Chisinau on 13-14 May, in the context of Moldova holding the chairmanship of this organisation in 2015.
