Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- The Bucharest-based Goethe Institute offered the “Akzente” German Cultural Centre an accreditation certificate during a ceremony organised by the German embassy in Moldova, in Chisinau today.

Attending the event were Culture Minister Monica Babuc, Education Minister Corina Fusu, German Ambassador to Moldova Ulrike Knotz, the head of the Goethe Institute, Evelin Hust, head of the Chisinau-based “Mihai Eminescu” Romanian Cultural Institute, Valeriu Matei, head of the German Cultural Centre, Corina Girla as well as art and culture people.

Knotz said the day the “Akzente” centre had received its accreditation certificate was very important for Moldovan-German ties.

“From now on, the “Akzente” centre will be able to issue linguistic certificates acknowledged by the Goethe Institute and recognized all over the world. The long and successful collaboration ties between these institutions, is an important part of the Moldovan-German bilateral cooperation,” Knotz noted.

According to her, Moldovan-German ties are friendly and intense. “However, what exactly does that mean? Political and diplomatic ties are abstract without friendship and mutual interest between people, which can be best achieved through cultural exchange and language learning, in particular,” the ambassador said.

The German Cultural Centre started its activity in Moldova in 2007, going from 10 to 400 students per year. Over 1000 people succeeded to learn German at this centre so far. Besides German language courses, the centre also offers a cultural programme. Thus, the film director Veit Helmer, will present his “Absurdistan” movie, at the “Odeon” cinema, in Chisinau today.
