Moldovan cabinet allocates one million lei for removing consequences of heavy rains

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today chaired a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations. The participants in the event ruled to earmark one million lei for the compensation of the damages caused by the latest heavy rains in the Falesti, Drochia and Straseni districts, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

Thus, 587,000 lei was distributed for the Falesti district, 282,000 lei – for the Drochia district and 240,000 lei – for the Straseni district.

„People must not suffer because of the shows on the political stage. While some people act as government, we must do our duty. Taking into account that, on the last period, heavy rains have been recorded in more districts, lands and agricultural crops, people’s households, roads from settlements were hit, more requests were  made by citizens, district heads and mayors to the cabinet. And we must intervene,” Pavel Filip said.   

The participants in the meeting unveiled information on the state of agricultural crops, dams, roads, as well as on the disconnection of the settlements hit from electric energy supply. The PM thanked those 300 servicemen, rescuers, firemen and carabineers involved in the strengthening of the dam from Stefan Voda.   

Prime Minister Pavel Filip asked the Commission for Emergency Situations to speed up the assessment of the damages caused by the rains in all Moldova’s settlements, in order to provide people with the needed support.  

At the previous meeting of the Commission, the cabinet earmarked three million lei for removing the consequences of the heavy rainfall in the Ungheni, Orhei and Ocnita districts.
