Over 68 per cent of Moldova’s exports go EU market: electrical equipment, vegetable products lead rankings

Over 68 per cent of Moldova’s exports were directed to the European Union market in 2025. The main categories of goods exported to the EU are electrical equipment, vegetable products, furniture items, fats and oils, as well as wines and beverages.

Thus, the European Union has strengthened its position as the main destination for Moldovan exports. More precisely, the share of exports to the EU is increasing compared to previous years, reaching 68.1 per cent in 2025, compared to 67.3 percent in 2024, 65.4 percent in 2023 and 58.6 percent in 2022.

Statistics data show that the total value of Moldovan exports to the European market exceeded 2.55 billion US dollars.

The highest export value was recorded in the category of electrical equipment, totaling 496.8 million US dollars. It was followed by vegetable products with 489.1 million US dollars, furniture items with 127.9 million US dollars, fats and oils with 122.4 million US dollars, and wines and beverages with 100.4 million US dollars.

Together, these categories account for almost half of Moldova’s exports to the European market. The data indicate that Moldovan exports to the EU are supported both by industrial products, such as electrical equipment and furniture items, and by agricultural and agri-food products, such as vegetable products, fats and oils, wines and beverages.

During January–November 2025, the main destinations for Moldovan exports in the European Union were Romania, with 29.2 per cent, Italy with 9.2 per cent, the Czech Republic with 8.3 per cent, Germany with 4.0 per cent and Bulgaria with 3.5 per cent. Romania had the largest share of the overall Moldovan exports to the EU on this period.
