Chisinau, Dec. 22 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian had a meeting today with a delegation of the Ministry of the Armed Forces of France, on a fact-collecting visit to Moldova, accompanied by French Ambassador to Chisinau Graham Paul.
According to the Reintegration Policy Office, the officials approached the security situation in the region, the developments recorded in the Transnistrian regulatory process, the energy crisis, etc.
They addressed efforts made by the national institutions to manage all the problems and vulnerabilities deriving from the complexity of the regional situation, with the further implementation of various positive measures in relation to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the Transnistrian region.
The sides also noted that the vision of a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, which will expose the parameters of the region's status within the unitary and reintegrated state of the Republic of Moldova represents a concern and a commitment of the Chisinau authorities. Serebrian also said that the European Union must play a more important role in the country's reintegration process, a process that must be harmonized with the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the EU.
In this context, the need for parallel progress on the objectives of demilitarization and democratization of the region was emphasized, with the gradual connection of the processes to the legal rigors in force and the achievement of the desired full reintegration.
