Chisinau, July 11. /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu today visited residents of Vălcineț village, one of the largest localities in Călărași district, the presidential press service has reported.
"Many of the more than 250 people I met talked about their problems, but also about the transformations taking place in the village. Here, through the European Village program, the land around the House of Culture was developed, and through the recent European Express Village initiative, the street lighting network will be renovated," said the president.
The official said that Vălcineț is a good example of mobilization and development of the locality through the cooperation of the private sector with civil society and the town hall (Local Action Group). In the village, with joint efforts, street lighting was installed on a 2-kilometer stretch, a stadium was built, a playground with sports equipment was laid out, and a tractor and multi-purpose equipment were procured. "Here we also found a good local example of bringing Europe to our home -people of diaspora contributed to the construction of 11 plastic collection areas. The people here also told me about the fact that they want good roads in the area. In the last two years, more than 350 kilometers of roads were put into operation in the country, of which 50 were built from scratch. This is just the beginning, quality roads must reach all the localities in the country", said Maia Sandu.
At the end, the president thanked the householders for unity and resistance, noting that this is the only way Moldova can succeed.
