Chisinau, July 13 /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu participated today in Moldova Women Forum, and spoke about the women's role in transforming things in our society, the presidential press service has reported.
"Today, one in three businesses in our country is run by a woman, 24% of mayors are women, 11 women will represent us at the Olympic Games and a woman is also leading the process of negotiations on accession to the European Union," the head of state said.
At the event, the official also spoke about discrimination, inequality, the problem of hate speech, the fact that every third woman in our country has suffered some form of violence in her lifetime. The head of state noted that women should know about the National Agency for Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence and the Police Family Justice Center, institutions that are meant to help women facing abusive situations.
"I urged the participants to talk to women in all of our localities, to provide support we all need when our strength seems at a limit. I urged them to have confidence in their own strength, to be the generation of women who bring the European Union to Moldova", Maia Sandu said.
