Chisinau, 12 December /MOLDPRES/ - Estonia’s experience as to the implementation of the Internet voting today was discussed at a meeting of the inter-institutional group on the elaboration and piloting of the Internet Voting Information System.

According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the experience of Estonia concerning the implementation of the Internet voting was presented by an expert who had carried out the system in this country, Tarvi Martens, and a programme manager on cyber security, programme leader in Moldova Epp Maaten.

According to the Estonian system, electors can vote during seven days before the elections by using an identification number. Also, the system allows the voting also through a mobile phone, using a mobile ID. They said that the voting was encrypted, secret and secured. At the same time, each registration number is verified through the national systems of registration of the residence, as well as in the State Register of Voters.
