Ministry of Foreign Affairs: All diaspora polling stations operational
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova reports that the voting process for the 2025 parliamentary elections is proceeding without incident. Over 60,000 Moldovan citizens abroad have voted so far.
Currently, all 268 polling stations set up in Europe and Asia, including the one in Japan where the first voter traditionally casts their ballot are operational. In the following hours, polling stations in the United States and Canada are expected to open.
In total, for the 2025 election, 301 polling stations have been established abroad, four of which are intended for postal voting.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the two stations opened in the Russian Federation, both located within the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova, are equipped with 5,000 ballots each—the maximum number allowed by law. Authorities emphasized that the decision to organize voting only within the diplomatic mission was made to ensure the security of citizens and election officials.
