Moldovan electoral body approves e-Voting Concept of Voting System by Internet
Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved the e-Voting Concept of the Voting System by Internet.
The document was backed with the votes of five members of the Commission. Another three members abstained from voting.
The technical parts of the draft were made public during the document’s presentation.
CEC head Angelica Caraman said that it was important for alternative ways to exist in the carrying out of the voting process. ‘’We should keep pace with the new technologies, especially as there is possibility for us to do this. The process of implementation of the voting system by Internet is a complex one, but absolutely necessary, which was proved by the pandemic period too,’’ Caraman stressed.
During discussions, the CEC members warned that the voting procedure via Internet must be a correct and transparent process. At the same time, the risks of cyber attacks are needed to be minimized through enhancing the security elements.
e-Voting Concept of the Voting System by Internet was submitted to government and parliament for consideration.
