Moldovan foreign affairs minister says Moldova Support Platform reminds that country has devoted friends
Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had more bilateral meetings with European officials, on the sidelines of the Moldova Support Platform, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service reported.
The Moldovan diplomacy head had a meeting with a good friend of Moldova, Foreign Affairs Minister of France Catherine Colonna. The officials discussed the importance of the Moldova Support Platform and stressed that this instrument helped the country a lot to overcome the crises from 2022. At present, Moldova will focus on the sustainable development goals. The country relies on the fact that France will back it in this approach.
Minister Nicu Popescu also discussed with Foreign Affairs Minister of Germany Annalena Baerbock, who participated in the fourth issue of the Moldova Support Platform. On this occasion, the Moldovan official thanked the German minister for the substantial assistance provided to Moldova, as well as for the fact that it had started and hosted this platform in Berlin for the first time ever in April 2022.
The officials also discussed the country’s significant progress in the implementation of the European agenda. „We will continue doing our homework, so that the decision on the launch of the negotiations on accession is taken till the end of this year. We count on Germany’s support in achieving this goal,’’ Nicu Popescu said.
On the sidelines of the Moldova Support Platform, Nicu Popescu also met Secretary General of Romania’s Government Mircea Abrudean. This meeting highlights the deep importance of the partnership between Moldova and Romania, as the latter continues to be the most devoted support of Moldova on its way of European integration.
Through constructive dialogue and constant cooperation, we day by day consolidate the strategic relation, contributing to the strengthening of the European values and the European integration way of Moldova. Mircea Abrudean reiterated that Romania’s firm commitment for the success and prosperity of Moldova stayed unchanged. Moldova’s road to the European Union continues to be optimistic and promising with such partners as Romania.
