President condemns violation of Moldova’s airspace by Russian drones: Russia’s war puts all of Europe at risk
President Maia Sandu on Thursday condemned the violation of the Republic of Moldova’s airspace by four Russian drones amid the massive attack on Ukraine, after at least one of the drones exploded in the north of the country.
In a post on the X platform, Maia Sandu described the incident as a further extension of the effects of the war in Ukraine into the Republic of Moldova.
“Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine reached Moldova again this morning: four Russian drones violated our airspace, and at least one exploded in the north,” the head of state wrote.
Maia Sandu condemned the war launched by the Russian Federation and stressed that it poses a risk to European security.
“Russia’s war puts all of Europe at risk. We condemn this war and stand with Ukraine,” the president said.
The statement came after authorities reported this morning that drones had violated the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.
Police announced that loud noises, similar to explosions, were heard in the districts of Șoldănești and Florești.
Thus, at around 7:45 a.m., a resident of the village of Vadul Rașcov, Șoldănești district, alerted the authorities about loud noises similar to explosions. Preliminary information indicated that they may have occurred in the area of the city of Camenca, on the left bank of the Dniester.
Later, police received another report concerning a possible explosion near the village of Cernița, Florești district.
Later, law enforcement officials announced that the site of the explosion had been located in a field adjacent to a farm near Cernița.
Police urge citizens not to approach unknown or suspicious objects and to call 112 if they identify such objects.
