U.S. President Joe Biden congratulates Maia Sandu on reelection as Moldova's president
Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - President of the United States Joe Biden today congratulated Maia Sandu on her reelection as president of Moldova.
„I congratulate Maia Sandu on her historic reelection as the President of Moldova.
On Sunday, the Moldovan people went to the polls and voted in favor of President Sandu’s vision for a secure, prosperous, and democratic Moldova.
For months, Russia sought to undermine Moldova’s democratic institutions and election processes. But Russia failed. The Moldovan people have exercised their democratic right to choose their own future, and they have chosen to pursue a path aligned with Europe and democracies everywhere,’’ reads the declaration by President Joe Biden on Maia Sandu’s victory at the presidential elections held on 3 November.
Following the processing of 100 per cent of the official reports, the data shows that about 930,000 of the electors or 55.33 per cent voted for Maia Sandu. At the same time, Alexandr Stoianoglo gained about 750,000 votes, which accounts for 44.67 per cent.
