
Another border policemen to be tried in file on bribe at Airport for forged COVID tests
Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/ - Another four border policemen will be tried for passive corruption in a file on bribe at Airport for forged COVID tests.
According to the National Anticorruption Centre, the criminal file was opened in June 2021. Fifteen employees of the General Inspection of Border Police are concerned in the file. They are prosecuted for claiming bribe, with sums between 50 euros and 100 euros, from passengers leaving Moldova, against whom there where suspicions of holding or presenting PCR test for COVID-19 with signs of forgery.
Seven persons have been earlier sent to court and the court has already issued the verdict against a policeman, enforcing a punishment worth 250,000 lei (about 12,500 euros), 8 years of deprivation of the right to hold public offices at the Interior Ministry and imprisonment with conditional suspension for a five-year period.
Eleven people out of 15 ones have got to be tried; criminal charges were dropped as to another four ones and contravention procedures were started for the reception of illegitimate reward or material benefit.
