Chisinau public transport to operate on weekend
Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/- Public transport in Chisinau will operate on weekend. This week, all transport units will operate as well. The decision was taken today by the Extraordinary Commission on Public Health of Chisinau and contradicts the request of the Extraordinary National Commission on Public Health (CNESP), which called for the establishment of a restricted regime of transport traffic on Saturday and Sunday.
According to Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban, when the transport will be diminished or restricted, crowd will be formed in the stations. "Today, we cannot control and diminish these processes. If we impose restrictions, the rush will be even greater. We are working to find solutions on the public transport side of the municipality. Next week, we will launch 20 trolleybuses in Chisinau. We see what we can do with the tender for buses, I mean the tender launched internationally, including the publication in the EU Journal of Public Procurement, for the purchase of the 100 buses, "Ceban wrote on his official website.
He noted that although schools will be closed, kindergartens remain open.
Yesterday, CNESP established a special activity regime on 1-15 March 2021. Thus, the education process will be online, the activity of theatrical-concert institutions and houses of culture will be prohibited and starting with March 5, people who will cross the border of the Republic of Moldova, on the way in, will be obliged to present the result of the negative COVID-19 PCR test. At the same time, CNESP requested the Extraordinary Territorial Commission of Public Health of Chisinau to establish a restricted regime, on Saturdays and Sundays, of public transport traffic.
