Drone discovered in Crocmaz village of Moldova neutralized
National Army sappers have neutralized the drone discovered in the village of Crocmaz, Stefan Voda district, today morning. It was transported to a safe location and destroyed. Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii has made statements to this effect before the government meeting.
According to the official, investigations established that it was a Geran-2 drone.
“The aircraft was operational and had about 50 kg of explosives on board. Specialists from the Defence Ministry went to the scene. The drone has been recently neutralized. Subsequently, it was transported to a safe location and destroyed,” stated Anatolie Nosatii.
The minister thanked the citizens for informing law-enforcement bodies and reporting the discovery of the aircraft.
“In case you discover unknown objects, I kindly ask you to immediately notify the police. It is important not to approach these objects until the police arrive. The competent authorities will make every effort to ensure the safety of citizens. Please remain vigilant,” said Anatolie Nosatii.
The official noted that the war waged by the Russian Federation against the Ukrainian state continues to generate risks for Moldova.
“We aim to strengthen the national defense system, to have better cooperation between state institutions, and to inform the population about the actions to be taken in case drones are discovered. First of all, it is important to stop the war that is still being waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. We are making every effort to strengthen the national defence system, which includes detecting and destroying or shooting down these threats, in order to ensure the security of Moldova’s citizens,” said Anatolie Nosatii.
A drone approximately 2.5 meters long was discovered today morning, around 09:25, in the garden of an uninhabited house in the village of Crocmaz, Stefan Voda district. The object was reported by citizens, who alerted law-enforcement bodies.
During the crash, the body of the aircraft was damaged after hitting tree branches and power lines, but the explosive device remained intact.
