
Heavy rains cause damages in more settlements of Moldova
Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ - More damages were recorded in the wake of the 20 June torrential rains in more settlements of the districts of Drochia, Cantemir, Criuleni and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauzia), according to information put out by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), collected in territorial subdivisions.
According to the institution, in the Drochia district, the Surii Noi settlement, about 64 hectares of wheat were affected by the heavy rains. ‘’Also, in the wake of the strong wind, about 250 slate roofs from 10 houses were pulled out and about 360 square metres of metal tile, 182 slate roofs and 2 cubic metres of timber were pulled out and deteriorated from roofs of three warehouses for preserving cereals and agricultural technology,’’ IGSU said.
At the same time, because of the bad weather in the Cantemir district, Carpesti village, about 0.6 km of local road was deteriorated and the rain hit two hectares of strawberries in the Balabanesti settlement, Criuleni district.“On 15-20 June, the precipitation and strong wind hit about 325 hectares of wheat, 78 hectares of barley and 42 hectares of sunflower in the Cazaclia village, UTA Gagauzia. Also, eight interventions of rescuers were registered with pumping water in the districts of Cahul, Telenesti, Floresti and Drochia,” the Inspectorate noted.
According to IGSU, firemen pumped water from five cellars of the private households from the Mandresti settlement, Telenesti district and 200 cubic metres of water was pumped from a garden in the Valeni village, Cahul district.
Commissions for emergency situations continue working on the spot to assess the material damages.
