In Leușeni customs post, five new control lanes opened on way to enter country
Chisinau, Aug. 3 /MOLDPRES/- Five control lanes were opened at the Leușeni customs post, on the way to the country's entrance, to reduce the time of crossing the border.
According to the Customs Service, following the opening of the new runways, the number of customs officials and border police officers will be increased to efficiently manage the control process.
According to the customs authority, the Leușeni crossing point is the most requested and records the highest number of state border crossings. Thus, on 1 June - 2 August, about 800,000 people crossed the border through this post. Compared to the same period last year, the number increased by over 200 thousand border crossings. The data increased by about 8% compared to the similar period of 2019, before the pandemic.
At the same time, the Customs Service and the Border Police carry out a series of measures to streamline cross-border traffic. It is about: supplementing the number of employees, redirecting traffic on the tracks available in the opposite direction of travel, the mutual exchange of data and information regarding the flow of passengers and means of transport, the intensification of working relations with the border and customs authorities of neighboring states, to synchronize the actions regarding the crossing of the state border.
