Moldovan Technical University, China Agricultural University sign memorandum on cooperation in education, research sector
Chisinau, 3 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Technical University of Moldova (UTM) today signed a memorandum of collaboration with the China Agricultural University. The document provides for a bilateral cooperation in the education and research sector.
Attending the event was Education and Research Minister Anatolie Topala, who stressed that Moldova and China had signed more cooperation agreements in the education field. ‘’The two universities train staff in the agriculture sector. The memorandum signed today will strengthen the cooperation relations, will support the mobility in education and research, the carrying out of joint projects and the good education of specialists,’’ Anatolie Topala said.
For his part, Ambassador of China to Moldova Yan Wenbin said the two education institutions had a rich history and experience in the agricultural sciences. ‘’The signing of this document is an important achievement. At the same time, it will lead to the consolidation and development of the bilateral relations between China and Moldova. The memorandum sees the carrying out of bilateral visits and an efficient collaboration in the field. The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China will provide every needed support in this process,’’ Yan Wenbin said.
UTM rector Viorel Bostan noted that the today’s event would re-launch the cooperation between the two universities. ‘’Through the signing of this Memorandum, UTM will become more visible internationally. At the same time, the document provides opportunities for the staff and students from the two countries. We want to exchange experience, to learn, in order to back the development of the sector. Also, similar documents are to be signed with universities from Italy and France,’’ Viorel Bostan stressed.
The Technical University of Moldova was founded in 1964. Presently, the institution has over 12,000 students, who make their degree, master and doctoral studies at 11 faculties. The University is made up of three research institutions. As many as 973 teachers work at UTM.
The China Agricultural University is a research institution from Beijing, specialized in agriculture, biology, engineering, veterinary medicine, economy and management. The institution was set up in 1995, through the merger of the Agricultural University and the Agricultural Engineering University from Beijing. It is regarded as one of the important agricultural research institution of the world.
