Speaker after new drone incident: Russia must and will answer for war crimes
Speaker Igor Grosu condemned Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and called for them to stop after a drone illegally flew through the airspace of the Republic of Moldova this morning and exploded near the village of Hîrbovăț, Anenii Noi district.
“We strongly condemn Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and call for their immediate cessation and a just peace for Ukraine. Russia must and will answer for its war crimes,” Igor Grosu wrote in a social media post.
According to the official, the drone flew over Tighina area and exploded upon hitting the ground near the village of Hîrbovăț. No casualties were reported, and the area was cordoned off. State services are at the scene examining the incident.
The Ministry of Defense previously announced that the drone had been detected at around 05:43 by the National Integrated Monitoring System, amid the massive attacks launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
Igor Grosu urged citizens who hear sounds characteristic of drones or explosions and believe there is an immediate risk to call 112 and take shelter in a safe place. He recommended that people follow only information issued by the authorities.
At the same time, the authorities warned the public not to touch or move any unidentified objects or fragments and to immediately notify the emergency service at 112.
