Taras Shevchenko Theoretical Lyceum from Moldovan capital receives 900 textbooks in Ukrainian language
Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - A consignment of 900 textbooks in Ukrainian language have been donated to the Taras Shevchenko Theoretical Lyceum from Chisinau, where classes where subjects are taught in this language will be opened.
Attending the event on the books’ delivery, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said that, through this joint effort, the leadership proved that it was with the Ukrainian children, giving them possibility to learn in the mother language and preserve their traditions. ‘’Each textbook represents not only an instrument of learning, but also a symbol of our solidarity, of the respect for the Ukrainian culture and identity,’’ Dan Perciun said.
The minister thanked the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine, which accepted the letter by the Education and Research Ministry and gave the pupils from Taras Shevchenko the textbooks they need.
The co-head of the Ukraine-Moldova inter-parliamentary friendship group, Mihailo Radutski, said that ‘’it is essential that all Ukrainian citizens who live in Moldova benefit from the opportunities provided by the Education and Research Ministry and learn the Romanian language.’’ ‘’At the same time, the preservation of the mother language is vital for the maintaining of our cultural identity,’’ Mihailo Radutski noted.
Since the starting of the war in Ukraine, the Education and Research Ministry has undertaken a string of actions meant to back the inclusion of the refugees from Ukraine in the education. About 2,100 children refugees from Ukraine were registered at the kindergartens, gymnasiums and lyceums from Moldova.
A number of 193 pupils presently study at the Taras Shevchenko Theoretical Lyceum, among whom 67 refugees from Ukraine.
