January 28 last when Moldovan citizens can submit applications to ask for compensations for January

January 28 is the last day when applications can be filled in to ask for compensations for electric energy for this month. During the cold season, the applications can be submitted at any moment, while the compensations will not be provided retroactively for the previous months.

Also, if the application is submitted after the date of 28 of the month, the assistance will be provided starting from the next month. The compensations for last December for the natural gas consumers increased, as the tariff had been increased in late November 2024. At the same time, compensations for both electric energy and thermal energy will be provided for January, after the tariffs were adjusted.

Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu has earlier assured the citizens that the government would attenuate any increase in the tariff for energy.

„The government works, in order to assure us that we provide every support needed this year as well, so that the citizens who benefit from compensations do not pay for energy more than last year,’’ Alexei Buzu said.

In November 2024, about 703,000 applicants were registered in the compensations system and the other 33,000 families submitted applications in last December.

The size of the compensations for November 2024 was between 300 and 800 lei, depending on the families’ incomes. For last December, the compensations increased and vary between 500 and 1,000 lei.

To receive compensations, all household consumers must register an application, no matter whether they submitted a request in the past or not. The application can be filled in online, on the website www.compensatii.gov.md or with the help of registrars.

The government has been providing compensations for energy to the vulnerable households for the third year in a row. The measure is included in the Assistance at Meter programme. The compensations are provided for the cold period of the year, which includes the months November-March.
