Moldovan state tax service depicts new cases of in-envelope salary

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – An economic agent verified by the State Tax Service (SFS) risks substantial fines for paying the envelope salary. About 40 of the company's 62 employees were paid without the data being taken into account, according to the SFS’s press service release.

There were found 19 cases of violation of the legislation following the unannounced controls carried out by tax inspectors on 21 taxpayer subdivisions,. These include making money in cash without using the existing cash and control machines, using a faulty cash machine and so on.

At the same time, the SFS’s employees have accumulated explanations from the staff of the economic agent regarding the working arrangements, the salary method, the salaries received. As a result, it was found that 40 employees receive salary in envelope. The Fiscal Service mentions that, besides the fact that the taxpayer will have to recalculate the tax liabilities related to the salary payments, it will also pay fines for the detected tax deviations.

The SFS announced recently that, for the first time in Moldova, an economic agent will pay a fine of MDL 50,000 for the payment of envelope salaries.

According to the general report on activities to minimize wage-earning practice and work at black done in the first semester of 2017, the State Tax Service has calculated additional MDL 8 million 883.6 thousand to the budget.

According to some estimates referred to by the National Confederation of Trade Unions (CNSM), the national public budget has to lose MDL 5.6 billion yearly as a result of the non-taxation of salaries paid in envelope.
