Cancer patients to be able to get treatment in private clinics

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/- Cancer patients will be able to receive treatment in private medical institutions. A draft law in this regard was adopted today in final reading by parliament.
The document was initiated by a group of MPs, including Speaker Andrian Candu, and sets that the licensed and accredited private medical institutions will be able to provide prophylactic, diagnostic, treatment and surveillance services in the field of oncology.
The new legislative changes in health care provide patients with oncological diseases to choose the medical institutions they will be treated for.
According to data provoded by the Oncology Institute, in 2016, over 52,000 people diagnosed with cancer were registered in Moldova. At the same time, over 5,000 patients die annually because of this.
