Moldovan parliament adopts draft law on museums

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/- The parliament today adopted in final reading the draft law on museums, which aims to modernize and streamline the activity of museums in Moldova.
The document was worked out and submitted at the proposal of the Culture Ministry in the context of the implementation of the legislative programme for implementation of the transposition commitments under the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU and for the implementation of the culture 2020 strategy.
The new law will regulate the establishment and classification of museums, museum heritage, technical-material basis and the financing of museums. At the same time, the procedure of accreditation, reorganization and liquidation of museums was set to monitor efficiently the museum activity.
The document also sees the creation of a methodological centre in the field of museography, which will assist the institutions. The centre’s activity will be coordinated by the Cultural Heritage Directorate in cooperation with the National Museum and Collections Commission.
