Over 130,000 Moldovan pensioners to get higher pensions

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 130,746 pensioners and about 21,264 beneficiaries of disability pensions will receive higher pensions in 2018. The parliament today adopted a draft law to this end.

Under the draft, on 1 April 2018, the age limit and disability pensions will be recalculated for the persons who established their pension in 2012-2013 and, on 1 October 2018, - for those who set the pension during 2014-31 March 2017. The increase in pensions as a result of their recalculation will be differentiated depending on the year when the pension was set and the income achieved by the person.

According to the law, 199.3 million lei will be earmarked to make the recalculation in case of age limit pensions and 27.8 million lei – for the disability pensions. Initially, the recalculation phases were planned to be carried out on 1 April 2019 and 1 April 2020.
