National Calendar - 2018 published in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 December /MOLDPRES/ - The National Library of Moldova (BNRM) has launched the National Calendar–2018.
The calendar has 260 pages and comprises 225 articles on personalities of Moldova and from broad, as well as about 1,500 general stories about national and international events.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the BNRM director general, Elena Pintilei, said that this was a reference work, indispensable for the work of libraries for scheduling activities in community, for efficient carrying out of the role of information, education, culture centre of the library.
According to Pintilei, the National Calendar was conceived as an encyclopedic annual and contains bio-bibliographic notes about the most outstanding personalities in the sectors of science, culture and art of Moldova, as well as from abroad. “During 25 years, an important database has been accumulated, which is similar to the Who is Who publications from the USA and the United Kingdom,” Elena Pintilei stressed.
The 2018 issue is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the setting of the monument to Stefan cel Mare from Chisinau, 200th anniversary of the foundation of the Stefan cel Mare Public Garden, 60th anniversary of the inauguration of the Alley of Classics and the 100th anniversary of Romania’s Great Union in 1918.
