Moldovan capital hosts first issue of Diaspora Biennial

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ – On occasion of winter holidays, the Diaspora Relations Office (BRD) within the State Chancellery organized the first edition of the Diaspora Biennale in Chisinau on 26 December 2017. The event gathered over one hundred guests, senior state officials, representatives of Diaspora, returning migrants, representatives of the partner institutions, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Attending the event, Secretary General, Lilia Palii, said she was honored to attend Diaspora Biennale 2017, an event for promotion and encouragement of Diaspora, Moldovan citizens living abroad and returning migrants, who achieved great results in various areas.

"I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for every citizen of Moldova abroad, who with work he is doing contributes to promotion of the image and contributes through remittances, investments, to socio – economic development of Moldova", said the secretary General of the Government, specifying that in 2018 Government will continue its efforts in policy development and implementation of explicit actions in support of Diaspora.

The event's programme included motivational speeches, congratulatory messages and a vast artistic programme supported by diaspora representatives. Also, laureates of Diaspora Biennial 2017 were nominated for the first time with five nominations in the categories: diaspora journalists who wrote about the diaspora or Moldova outside the country, returning migrants who have been noted in various fields, doctors without borders, participants of DOR programme that promotes Moldova and love for home.

The winners of this Biennial are:

Jurnalisti in diaspora (Diaspora journalists) – Bianna Golodryga

Medici fara frontiere (Doctors without borders) – Dorina Donici

Din nou acasa (Again at home) – Valentina Geamana

DOR cu talent (DOR with gift) – Corina Diaconu

Cu drag pentru acasa (With love for home) – Aura Vition.

With diplomas of excellence, Gheorghe Bobeica, Raisa Ambros, Ludmila Furtuna, Grigore Popusoi, Igor Furtuna, Ana Niculaes, Daniel Raicu, Nicoleta Louennous, Victoria Dunford, Tatiana Ciubuc, and diplomas of merit were awarded to each nominee at five categories.

The contest was launched from 23 November – 17 December 2017 and on 18 – 20 December online voting procedure followed, after which a joint judging committee nominated the winners for each category designated winners for each category.
