Gas Natural Fenosa in Moldova launches process of demands of bid for purchasing electric energy

20:04 | 31.01.2018 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - The companies of Gas Natural Fenosa Group in Moldova have started the process of demands of bids for the purchasing of electric energy for the period 1 April 2018 – 31 March 2019. The old contracts expire on 31 March 2018.

The group’s Foreign Relations and Communication Department said that, in late January 2018, the demands for bids were sent to all participants in the electric energy market of Moldova, which hold licenses of producers and providers issued by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), including relevant participants from Ukraine.

According to the internal procedures of the companies of the Gas Natural Fenosa group in Moldova and an order by the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, a preliminary list of potential suppliers which meet the indicated criteria will be worked out within the first stage. Those wishing to participate with a bid should submit their letters of intent till 6 February 2018, according to a pre-established calendar.

Last year, the operators regulated on the energy market of Moldova, including the Gaz Natural Fenosa Moldova Group, signed contracts with Energocom on the purchasing of electric energy for the period 1 April 2017 – 31 March 2018, just on the day when the old contract expired. The Ukrainians’ bid was liked due to a more advantageous price offered – 49.9 dollars for one MW.

In late June 2017, Energocom said that, starting from 7 June, it was buying a part of the electric energy for Moldova’s needs from the Kuchurgan Power Plant at a price of 45 dollars per one MW/hour. The price is by ten per cent lower than the one paid to the Company DTEK Trading (Ukraine) and, respectively, the one paid earlier, the Economics Ministry said.

According to the contracts signed between Energocom and providers in 2016, the electric energy was supplied on the period 1 April 2016 – 31 March 2017 at a price of 48.995 dollars for one MW/hour, against 67.95 dollars, paid till 1 March 2016.

The Economics Ministry explains that the decision on the negotiation and signing of the contract on purchasing electric energy with one more partner was taken by Energocom after assessing the energy situation on the market in the region, more advantageous price bid, as well as in order to diversify the sources of supply with electric energy of Moldova’s consumers and strengthen the country’s energy security.
