Moldovan, Georgian premiers have common goal of advancing bilateral ties

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. The officials discussed opportunities of boosting the bilateral dialogue, including within international organizations, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The sides appreciated the good cooperation between the two states on the European integration segment, noting that Moldova and Georgia had common goals in the relation with EU. In the context, the Moldovan prime minister stressed that the exchange of experience in key sectors, including on the Eastern Partnership platform, would help successfully carry out the commitments taken by both countries before the European institutions. 

Also, Pavel Filip highlighted the importance of turning to good account the commercial and economic potential, with emphasis on the setting up of joint ventures and attracting Georgian investments into the national economy through facilities provided by free economic zones and industrial parks from Moldova. The two PMs confirmed interest in the organization of the second meeting of the Moldovan-Georgian inter-governmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation.    

Prime Ministers Filip and Kvirikashvili also exchanged opinions on the process of settlement of the conflicts existing in the two countries. The sides spoke out for developing a mutually advantageous cooperation within the Organization for democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) – an organization the chairmanship of which was taken over by Moldova in 2018. At the end of the meeting, the Georgian prime minister confirmed intention to pay a working visit to Moldova this year.
