Moldovan-Turkish business forum to take place in Istanbul

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - A business forum will take place in Istanbul on 23 March, in which representatives of the business environment from Moldova and Turkey will participate. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici and Ambassador of Turkey to Moldova Hulusi Kiliç established the day of organizing the event at a meeting today.    

“The organization of bilateral business forums has the goal to present investment opportunities of Moldova, national companies, diversify Turkish investments in our country and consolidate the bilateral economic relations,” Gaburici said.   

At the meeting, the Moldovan minister reiterated the importance of the signing, at the forum, of a framework agreement on cooperation between the Association of Business People from Moldova and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. Also, the participants in the forum will unveil facilities provided by the bilateral Agreement on Free Trade, which entered into force on 1 November 2016. At the same time, Minister Gaburici will have a string of meetings, including with his counterpart from Turkey.  

The two officials also discussed the extension of the bilateral relations in all sectors, especially in infrastructure, transports, investments, industry and energy, etc. Thus, Ambassador Hulusi Kiliç reconfirmed Turkey’s interest in the implementation of economic reforms in Moldova.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry’s information and media communication service, Carolina Sturza, said that there are more than 1,200 enterprises with Turkish capital in Moldova. “The capital investments amount to 384 million lei. Turkey ranks third in Moldova in terms of the number of enterprises, which represents a share of 11 per cent,” Sturza noted.     

In 2017, the foreign trade between Moldova and Turkey amounted to more than 408 million dollars, up by 22.4 per cent against the year before.
