New local elections to be held in Chisinau, Balti municipalities on 20 May 2018

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - New local polls will take place in the Chisinau and Balti municipalities on 20 May 2018, under a decision approved by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today.
The CEC members approved the decisions unanimously.
At the same time, the Commission established that 22.5 million lei would be needed to organize the elections, and this money was not provided for in the state budget.
The CEC decisions will be published in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
Balti mayor Renato Usatii resigned on 13 February and Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca tendered resignation by three days later.
